How does a contractor become prequalified?
Bidders must be prequalified for each individual project. Prequalification information will be distributed by the project architect for projects bid directly by FSU. Prequalification information will be distributed by the Construction Manager (CM) for projects utilizing the services of a CM. Bidders must follow the instructions in the prequalification packet.
What kind of information is on the prequalification application?
Bidders are requested to provide information regarding related experience, size if their workforce, bonding capacity, financial information, insurance and other specific project related information. For a working sample please click here.
Does a contractor have to be prequalified to perform work on campus?
Bidders must be prequalified for most, but not all projects. Some very small projects with a simple scope of work may be accomplished without prequalification.
Does being prequalified guarantee work at the University?
Prequalification does not guarantee that bidders will receive work, but it does allow for them to bid on prospective work at the University.
Does the University have a process for quick payment to Small Businesses?
All invoices for payment are processed according to Florida Statutes and payment is typically made within 30 days of approval of the invoice.
Does the University provide any training for contractors?
At this time the University does not have procedures in place for the training of contractors. However, the Office of Supplier Diversity will be conducting a research to determine if beneficial to establish a construction management institute.
